Bound in full black morocco, with a border of gilt vines and leaves terminating in deeply impressed gilt flowers towards the middle, to create an oval frame surrounding the middle of the board. At each corner are gilt boxes framing Ruskin's initials ("J. R."). Similar motif to spine, with title and author in the second compartment (of six). Turn ins feature leaves and a flower at each
