Relatively little is known about his life beyond that he continued to work in Denmark throughout his career. However, from the paintings he left behind, much can be garnered about his view of the world. A number of his pieces, including this one which is titled Marrakech, seem to take inspiration from cities, towns, and places abroad, such as those previously auctioned named after the likes of Mallorca,
