One school, more evangelically minded and largely those who had in mind the frequent sacramental occasions attending the Cambuslang Revival, etc., were in favor of celebrating more often. The other, feeling it made it less sacred and encouraged all kinds of "looseness" favored less frequent communion. Erskine [b. 1721] was of the former school. He had
